This year’s Mixtape white is 58% Chenin Blanc, 21% Riesling, 15% Gewurztraminer, and 6% Viognier, all organically farmed. Half of the Chenin Blanc, and all of the Riesling, was fermented to dryness on the skins, and all of the fruit received at least 2 hours on the skins. It is drier than the 2019, which had a touch of sweetness, and we find it to be more balanced overall. The Gewurztraminer lifts the nose, providing floral top notes, while the skin-fermented portion brings more exotic aromatics. Texturally it has beautiful weight and roundness, a result of full malo and no fining or filtering. This is a wine we want to drink all year long, and it should complement a wide array of foods.
