Description
MicroBio Wines is the personal project of Ismael Gozalo, its creator, alongside Javier Zaccagnini, from Ossian. Since 1998, Ismael has been making his own wines outside the family winery, Viñedos de Nieva. He started by making young, fresh and quite varietal wines. Then, he soon started to produce a bio or natural line to enhance the personality of the variety and the terroir above all.
To make these wines, Ismael has pre-phylloxera vines owned by his family, ungrafted, which he cultivates organically, although he does not want to be labelled. He still sells a large percentage of the grapes to producers in the area, such as Ossian itself.
La Banda del Argilico is a wine made from Verdejo from two different vineyards in Nieva. The vines are planted ungrafted on sandy and sandy-gravelly soils.
The vineyards are harvested twice by hand. The first time the aim is to preserve the freshness and the small amount of alcohol, the second and larger harvest is intended to achieve ripeness, fruit, structure and length in the mouth. After a classic vinification, the wine is left to rest for 5 and a half months with its fine lees. Bottled without filtering or clarifying.
