Celebrate Women’s History Month with ANXO!
ANXO’s Women’s Month celebration has grown from a single event back in 2018 to a month-long celebration that we punctuate with live events and fundraisers that highlight talented diverse women from across a variety of industries. All month long we use the term women to refer to all female-identifying people, including our trans sisters.
Every year we partner with Eden Cider, a woman-owned cidery based in Newport, VT, to bring you our Women’s Month Cider, Nevertheless. This cider features imagery of Basandere, aka the wild woman of Basque folklore who has come to represent ANXO’s Women’s Month celebration. For our 5th Annual celebration, we will be donating $1 for every dine-in can and 4-pack sold to-go of Nevertheless during the month of March to Planned Parenthood. Come and visit us on International Women’s Day (March 8th) and Eden will be matching all donations from Nevertheless for the day.
We are so excited to get back to in-person events this year! We cannot wait to welcome you back to ANXO Brightwood if you haven’t been in a while. We are hosting Sunday Artisan Markets on March 13, 20, and 27 with some fantastic local femme-identifying artists and artisans. Here in the tasting room, we are featuring cocktail flights featuring creations from our Women’s Cocktail Competition with a portion of the proceeds going to the DC Abortion Fund (DCAF), a specialty cheese plate with new offerings from Megan Vaughan of Vaughan Cheese, as well as some amazing new offerings in our bottle shop from some of our favorite femme-identifying producers.
This year we also have two additional fundraisers that will benefit DCAF. Our ANXO Women’s Month Shirts are available for sale on Bonfire with proceeds going to DCAF. We are also selling tickets all month for a Women’s Month Raffle to benefit DCAF. This raffle grew tremendously through the generosity of some incredible women restaurateurs and business owners, and the MULTIPLE prize packages should not be missed!
As with everything in this season in the restaurant world, we are so excited to welcome all back to ANXO. We are practicing as much COVID safety as we can, requiring mask use among staff, and encouraging it with all guests while they are not actively eating and drinking. If you aren’t quite ready to join us in person yet, we still have plenty of things for you too! Raffle tickets can be purchased online, and our Cocktail Competition Boxes will be available for takeout and delivery too!
